Blues Remix – Where music and dance converse!

Music and dance have a symbiotic relationship – one cannot exist without the other. Musicians bring dancers to life and dancers bring life to their music.

This year, we invite you to embark on a journey with us, in exploring the deep connection between music and dance of the traditional African American Vernacular Blues art form.

We have remixed for you dance workshops, blues song-writing workshop, jam workshop and session, parties with live music with Belgian and International musicians, a guided city tour of African culture in Brussels, social activities and much more…

Let’s immerse ourselves in the profound dialogue where music and dance converse.

Join us in Brussels on 31 May to 3 of June!

Celebrating the blues, together! Our values.

Festivals play a significant role in fostering a sense of community and cultural identity. We would like to set the scene to celebrate with you our common passion for blues around  the traditional roots of blues music and dance.

Respect and honour African American vernacular dance history and music from the content to practicalities.

We acknowledge that we are guests in this culture and we would like to grow together with our international community by learning from inspirers, instructors and musicians who share the same values as us.

Being mindful of gender equality from participation to communication, from music to dance activities.

We greet the artistic and social contributions of all the African American blues and jazz women who paved the way for us today, as well as the people who work daily to bring us all closer to having equal opportunities and rights, regardless of our gender. We aim to reflect balanced gender representation from the stage to the dance floor.

Having a diverse and creative perspective

While being respectful to blues history and culture, we enjoy bringing creative perspectives and mixing art forms through our activities. We like to remix creative art forms, social activities and jam culture to turn our festival into a big canvas of expressions.

Being kind and caring for each other, being Inclusive

We aim to create an inclusive space in our community where we all feel heard, safe and supported to be our authentic selves while being caring and kind to each other regardless of our differences. We have zero tolerance to discrimination or any abusive behaviour.
